Abstract
Preeclampsia is a clinical syndrome characterized by hypertension and proteinuria after 20 weeks of gestation in pregnant women. pathophysiology of preeclampsia is affected by imbalance of systemic angiogenic factors and immunological factors. TGF-β- can describes placental dysfunction of preeclampsia and IL-10 is an anti-inflammatory cytokine that found to be low in preeclampsia conditions. Pravastatin is an antihyperlipidemic drug, candidate for potential therapy for preeclampsia. Aim: to determine the effect of pravastatin on TGF-β- and IL-10 serum level in preeclampsia rat model. Method: This research consisted of five groups egative control (normal pregnant rats) group, positive control (preeclampsia rat model induced L-NAME 125 mg/Kg BW) group, preeclampsia rat model groups given Pravastatin in 3 different doses (2 mg/day, 4 mg/day, and 8 mg/day, respectively). Blood pressure measurements were carried out on day 12, 15, and 19 of pregnancy. After the rats were sacrificed, the serum were collected to determine TGF-β- and IL-10 level. Results: The result showed a increase serum level of TGF-β- (p=0.003) and IL-10 (p=0.001). Conclusion: the administration of pravastatin can increase the levels of TGF-β- and IL-10 with increasing dose of pravastatin.
