Abstract

This study discusses the students’ problems during learning speaking process. In this study, the writer focuses on the 5 first grade student of AKL 2 at SMK PGRI 2 Kediri with the lowest grades as the object of this study. In learning English, students must achieve four language skills and speaking is one of them. The goal is to make students active to deliver their ideas, thoughts, and messages in oral communication. It means that students should be able to communicate with others to get, to share information or to express what they feel. Teaching a foreign language specially English is hard than teaching the first language, because the students will face many problems. Unfortunately in SMK PGRI 2 Kediri, the first grade students are faced some problems in learning speaking. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to reveal 1). What kinds of non linguistics problems faced by the first grade students of SMK PGRI 2 Kediri. 2). What kinds of solution are implemented to reduce the non linguistics problems encountered by the first grade students of SMK PGRI 2 Kediri. 3). What are non linguistics dominating in speaking class by the first grade students of SMK PGRI 2 Kediri. This study was qualitative research, and to collect the data used interview and observation. Based on the result of this study, the students faced non linguistics problems, which most dominating in speaking class is mother tongue. With the discovery of non linguistics problems faced by the students, the EFL teachers can understand the situation of their students, and they can be motivated to provide the solutions.
