Abstract

Vocabulary is one of the basic aspects that must be mastered in language learning. Aside from being a basis, vocabulary is also important as a centre for language teaching and learning. It is said to be the basis of language teaching and learning because vocabulary has an important role in the four language skills. The four language skills include reading, writing, speaking and listening. Vocabulary contributes to learners for their ability to be better. The purpose of this research is to find out students' vocabulary at SDN 1 Senggowar before and after being taught using the song media with movement. Not only that another purpose is to describe the students' behaviour respond when the song with movement applied in teaching learning process to students' vocabulary on grade IV students of SDN 1 Senggowar. Song is a suitable medium for simple and complex vocabulary learning. Song accompanied by movement help students in learning vocabulary. Not only can students sing, they can also move when learning song with movement. This helps increase students' learning motivation and reduce students' problems in vocabulary learning. In addition, song and movement is a relevant way of teaching. This research is a type of quantitative research. That is, this research is based on data in the form of numbers and analysed using a platform. There are two variables in this study. The independent variable in this study is Songs with Movement. Meanwhile, the dependent variable in this study is students' vocabulary. There were six classes as the population of this study. Then the sample taken was 24 students from class 4. The instruments used were tests and questionnaires. The test instruments used were pretest and post-test. The findings of this study found that students' scores increased after being taught by using song media with movements. This is known from the students' vii pretest score, the lowest was 35 and the highest was 70. Then the students' post-test score with the lowest score was 45 and the highest score was 80. From the comparison of the two tests, it is known that students' scores have increased. In addition, judging from the standard of completeness value of 70, in the pretest the number of students who reached the completeness value was only 1 student who achieved it. While in the post-test students who reached the standard value of completeness increased, namely there were 6 students. From the results of the above research, the researcher concluded that songs with motion are suitable media used to teach young learners. The suggestion that the researcher wants to convey is that the teacher must prepare material that can be applied using the song with motion media. The presentation in this way must be in a fun way so as to make students enjoy the learning process. Another suggestion is that teachers should be able to create suitable strategies in the classroom, considering the different learning styles of students. Song and movement media is known to be suitable for auditory and kinaesthetic learning styles. So, the teacher must handle this, and it is hoped that this research can be used as a reference.
