Abstract

Linguistic intelligence is intelligence related to language and vocabulary, both written and spoken. Linguistic intelligence plays a pivotal role in speaking skills as it involves the capacity to understand and manipulate language effectively. This research was conducted at the University of Nusantara PGRI Kediri. The subject of this research is fourth-grade students consisting of 38 students. The SPSS version 25 is used to analyze the data from students. The results show that there is a significant correlation between students’ linguistic intelligence and their English-speaking skill achievement at the University of Nusantara PGRI Kediri. It is proven by the result of data analysis which rxy is 0.822. In the standard significant table, for standard significant 5% rt is 0.444. While, for standard significance, 1% rt is 0.561 or can be written as 0.444 < 0,822 > 0.561 It means rxy > rt. So, the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. Therefore, it can be summarized that linguistic intelligence has a strong correlation to English-speaking skill achievement.
