Abstract

This development research is based on field studies that have been carried out. From the field study, it is known that only 10 students out of 25 students complete the KKM, the teacher is only guided by the teacher's book and the student's book, and the teacher has not tried to develop learning media. This causes students to feel lazy and bored because student books only display narration and pictures. Therefore, researchers will develop a learning media in the form of hand puppets with Javanese traditional characters. This study aims to (1) find out the stages of developing hand puppet media with Javanese traditional characters in the material describing messages in fairy tales presented by third grade students at SDN Lirboyo 2 Kediri City, (2) knowing the validity of developing hand puppet media on the material describing messages in fairy tales. presented by third grade students at SDN Lirboyo 2 Kediri city based on validity, (3) knowing the practicality of developing hand puppet media on the material describing messages in fairy tales presented by third grade students at SDN Lirboyo 2 Kediri City based on practicality, (4) knowing the effectiveness of media development hand puppets on material describing messages in fairy tales presented by third grade students at SDN Lirboyo 2 Kediri City based on effectiveness This study uses the type of R&D research with the ADDIE research model. These stages are analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The location of the study was a limited trial conducted at SDN Lirboyo 1 Kediri City and an extensive trial was conducted at SDN Lirboyo 2 Kediri City. The research subjects were 10 students of class III Lirboyo 1 Kediri City who were selected randomly, for the broad trial the subjects were students of SDN Lirboyo 2 Kediri City, totaling 25 students. Model/product validation is carried out through two stages, namely the limited trial phase and the broad trial phase. The data collection instrument is using a questionnaire. The questionnaire serves to determine the validation of the media and the validation of the material developed, the teacher's response and the student's response to determine the effectiveness. Based on the research, the results obtained: (1) the stages of developing hand puppet media with Javanese traditional characters to improve the ability to decipher messages in fairy tales can be seen from student learning outcomes and student interest in learning Indonesian when using learning media, (2) the validity of product development hand puppet learning media with Javanese traditional characters with a score of 98% and 92% from material experts. learning media is in the very valid category, (3) the practicality of developing hand puppet media gets an average teacher response value of 89%, and student responses 92.5% which means it is very practical, (4) the effectiveness of media development can be seen from the results of the teacher's response and student responses in the limited trial received a score of 91.5%, while in the broad trial the score was 95%. So it can be concluded that the hand puppet media with Javanese traditional characters is very suitable to be used in the learning process and can improve learning outcomes for students in learning the material to decipher messages in fairy tales.
