Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kebutuhan daya pada mesin pengering serbaguna tipe rotary dryer berkapasitas 50 kg serta mengevaluasi kesesuaian motor bensin sebagai penggerak utama. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuantitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif-analitis melalui perhitungan putaran, gaya, torsi, dan kebutuhan daya berdasarkan spesifikasi sistem transmisi. Sistem transmisi terdiri atas motor bensin 6,5 HP, pulley, V-belt, gearbox, sprocket, rantai, poros, dan bearing. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa putaran motor 4.934 rpm direduksi menjadi putaran tabung 60 rpm. Massa efektif sistem sebesar 108 kg menghasilkan gaya 1.059,48 N, torsi tabung 317,844 Nm, dan torsi motor 3,87 Nm. Kebutuhan daya teoritis sebesar 1,99 kW meningkat menjadi daya rencana 3,89 kW atau 5,33 HP setelah faktor koreksi diterapkan. Dengan faktor keamanan 1,2 dipilih motor bensin 6,5 HP yang mampu memenuhi kebutuhan daya. Hasil pengujian menunjukkan sistem transmisi bekerja stabil, tanpa slip pada V-belt, sehingga mesin layak digunakan untuk proses pengeringan gabah
