Abstract

This study aims to find out 1.) the implementation of reading skills assessment at SMA Negeri 3 Kediri, 2.) mention the obstacles faced by teachers in implementing the assessment of reading skills at SMA Negeri 3 Kediri, and (3) the solution to overcome obstacles in implementing assessments at SMA Country 3 Kediri. This type of research uses qualitative research methods, with data collection in the form of observations, interviews, and documentation. Based on the research findings are: (1) in applying the assessment on reading skills the teacher provides exercises by asking students to read story texts and can be assessed from the pronunciation, (2) the teacher experiences several obstacles in applying the assessment of reading skills, namely the difficulty of students focusing on the material presented, feeling lazy to read in learning, and the difficulty of distinguishing students who are reading. able to master the material. or students who only work with other friends, (3) the teacher tries to find more interesting readings, interesting stories or maybe news items, looking for the most viral news, that way children will become more interested in reading and Also the teacher always motivates students about the importance of reading. From these results it can be concluded that the implementation of the assessment of reading skills has been running, but there are still some obstacles.
