The research employed a pre-experimental design using a one-group pre-test and post-test design. The population of this research consisted of the tenth-grade students of SMK PGRI 3 Kediri, and the sample consisted of 14 students, selected using total sampling.
The instrument used to collect the data was a reading comprehension test consisting of a pre-test and a post-test. The treatment was conducted by using interactive media based on Microsoft PowerPoint, which included descriptive texts, pictures, animations, vocabulary exercises, and interactive reading comprehension activities. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and the paired-samples t-test with the help of SPSS.
The results showed that the students' mean score increased from 43.214 in the pre-test to 95.500 in the post-test. The paired-samples t-test indicated that the significance value (Sig. 2-tailed) was 0.000, which was lower than the significance level of 0.05 (0.000 < 0.05). Therefore, the alternative hypothesis (H₁) was accepted, and the null hypothesis (H₀) was rejected. These findings indicate that the use of interactive media had a significant positive influence on the students' reading comprehension.
In conclusion, interactive media is an effective instructional medium for improving students' reading comprehension. It enhances students' engagement, motivation, and understanding during the teaching and learning process. Therefore, English teachers are encouraged to integrate interactive media into reading instruction, particularly when teaching descriptive texts.</mods:abstract><mods:classification authority="lcc">531 English literature (and language)</mods:classification><mods:classification authority="lcc">742 English language and literature education</mods:classification><mods:classification authority="lcc">797 Curriculum development</mods:classification><mods:originInfo><mods:dateIssued encoding="iso8061">2026-07-16</mods:dateIssued></mods:originInfo><mods:originInfo><mods:publisher>Universitas Nusantara PGRI Kediri;KODEPRODI88203#Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris</mods:publisher></mods:originInfo><mods:genre>Thesis</mods:genre></mods:mods>
